Collab Challenge – Win a Copy of My Book!
This Collab Challenge is the first in my new series of video contests offering some great prizes designed to help you build your audience and subscriber base on YouTube. I’m going to pose these challenges periodically to my readers and anyone else who would like to participate.
Your first challenge is to make a collab video with another YouTuber who you’ve never collaborated with before. Your video can be any length and fall into any genre or category you desire. Simply write, shoot and upload your Collab Challenge video to YouTube before midnight EST on Sunday, September 21, 2008 (about one week from now, full entry details below).
This should be a real fun project that not only scores one lucky content creator some great promotion and a free copy of my book, but also a new way for all of us to get to know more of each other on YouTube. Collab videos are one of the best ways to interact with others on YouTube.
The winning collaboration video will be chosen by WhatTheBuckShow, nalts and myself.
Prizes:
- One free copy of YouTube: An Insider’s Guide to Climbing the Charts, the book I co-wrote (with Michael W. Dean) about building a successful channel and following on YouTube. Book will be mailed to you upon publication.
- Promotion for your winning video on YouTube, Twitter and other social networking sites by WhatTheBuckShow, nalts and myself. This will include clickable links to your winning video and may include links to your channel.
- Your winning video embedded in an announcement post on this blog, along with a link to your channel.
Entry Rules:
- Your video must be new, not a reupload, and must contain at least one other YouTuber in addition to yourself, who you’ve never collaborated with before.
- Your video must be uploaded to YouTube and added to the official Collab Challenge Group on YouTube.
- Your video description must begin with the following statement: “This video is part of a Collab Challenge hosted on http://viralvideowannabe.com by fallofautumndistro.”
- Your video should be appropriate for audiences of ages 13 and up.
If you have any questions, please feel free to post them in the comment section below. This is the first challenge I’ve hosted, so I’m bound to learn from it, with your help.
Judging will not take view or subscriber count into consideration, we are only interested in the content of the video. Whether you have 5 subscribers or 5,000 – you are welcome to participate in this challenge.

In addition, each post this week on Viral Video Wannabe will be related to making collab videos, including:
I’m looking forward to your videos. Now stop reading and go grab your webcams!

lol gutted… I just spent weeks making a collab for student.com but it’s gone up already. Don’t think I have it in me to make another within a week, but I like the idea of challenges via your blog. Hope it goes well. =)

i’m stuck in prague writing a 10 page paper and there’s war in my country (georgia), so i lack the inspiration to make any videos these days but good luck to all the contestants and a wonderful idea.

Annaconda, you have inspiration right now. Make a video talking about the war. A collab doesn’t need to be funny; it could be a serious piece about the war.

Anna, sorry to hear that, keep your head up, are you still going on that US tour soon?

I love to see film collaboration. That’s what our website http://www.rootclip.com is all about. We’re taking a different approach though, as we are trying to develop whole films as a community.
Good luck on this contest, it sounds great!
