Purchase and Download YouTube Videos
Today, YouTube announced that they will begin allowing select partners to charge a small fee for, or give away, their YouTube videos as downloads.
While most people would have no reason to download a rambly six minute vlog, many people would love the opportunity to download and re-watch (in higher quality) music videos, short films and other artistic videos uploaded to YouTube.
As a content creator who not only vlogs, but also regularly produces music videos and other creative content, I’m very excited about this new feature. Rather than going through the hassle of producing and selling a DVD that may include videos viewers don’t want, viewers could now purchase select, individual videos instantly.
Not everyone enjoys the commercial side of YouTube. But like everyone else, YouTube and it’s content creators have to pay the bills. Thankfully, YouTube is exploring creative options, instead of just pre-rolling a few Blackberry video ads.

I’m gonna play devil’s advocate here, so bear with me
most people have apps or websites that can download any youtube video for free, why would they dish out money for something they’ve already been getting free for years?

I don’t think i would buy some videos.
I can ALWAYS watch it on youtube and elsewhere.
I have no need to download someone’s videos.

I really don’t understand the why someone would buy a video that can be easily downloaded for free. Even lower-end editing software has the ability to do screen captures.
I guess this is geared towards teens that aren’t smart enough to figure that out for themselves?

Yeah, I sort of agree with the others, people already get them for free, however, I guess it’s the same for music. People still pay to buy songs on iTunes when they can get it free on LimeWire. There are always loyal people and fans though that will probably buy videos.
